that was the custom come down

So that’s the end of the residencies for now. We played in San Diego three times in January, were on-air at KWSS 106.7 three times, played in Phoenix four times, and in Los Angeles five times. Not a bad amount of shows for not really being on tour.

When we got back to Phoenix from our final L.A. show last week, we had a few days off and then played a show for the Alliance of Independent Media Stores convention, which was being hosted by Kimber Lanning of Stinkweeds. It was great, and we made some good, new friends, like Eric of Criminal Records, a man after my own heart due to his love of Infinite Jest.

Now for February:

This short month, we’ll be learning a few more songs we recorded; record a very tardy personal song for our good friend Sarah; Wayne and Phil will be recording a new record for their other band Tugboat, good news for music lovers everywhere. I’ll be seeing Ben Kweller when he comes to town next week, and then I’ll be seeing Telekinesis and The Love Language when they come in a couple weeks.

Then, we’re off for a brief tour with Meg and Dia before playing a number of shows at SXSW.
